Anti-malarial Drugs

Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease caused by the Plasmodium parasite that infects red blood cells and destroys the red blood cells and the bodys ability to create new red blood cells. There are four types of Malaria: P. vivax, P. ovale, P. malariae, and P. falciparum. All types of malaria can cause fever, headache, and muscle aches, but only the P. vivax and P. ovale cause vomiting and diarrhoea. Malaria is most common in tropical and subtropical regions of the world, with the exception of parts of Europe, Australia, and North America. The World Health Organization estimates that there are over 200 million cases of malaria worldwide each year.
