Anti-malarial Drugs

Malaria is a mosquito-borne infectious disease that can cause fever, chills, headache, and vomiting, as well as anemia, seizures, and death. Malaria is most prevalent in tropical areas where the weather is warm and humid, and can also affect people who live in temperate climates. Malaria is caused by a parasite that infects red blood cells, leading to the destruction of the cells. This causes low levels of hemoglobin, which are the oxygen-carrying molecules in the blood. In order to prevent malaria, patients must take an anti-malarial drug, such as quinine or atovaquone-proguanil. These drugs help the body clear the parasite before it can infect the cells.
