Bosentans mechanism of action involves inhibiting the bodys endogenous chemical endothelin, which constricts blood vessels. Bosentan reduces blood flow resistance by widening blood vessels and inhibiting endothelin receptors, which lowers blood pressure in the pulmonary arteries and relaxes blood vessels.
Bosentan tablets are recommended for treating pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) in adults and children three years of age and older. It can be applied to patients with genetic PAH, connective tissue disease-related PAH, and idiopathic PAH (of unknown cause).
