A mixture of various ingredients including gypsum, silica, limestone, and magnesia, cement is the binder that binds all of the components of a building together. It is primarily made from limestone, sand, and clay, and then heated to a temperature of 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. It is then ground to make a powder and mixed with water to create a slurry. After it sets, the concrete is formed into blocks. However, there are other types of additives that can be mixed in with the cement to create stronger concrete or add more aesthetic qualities to it.
