Native to the Southern United States, this succulent has been in cultivation for more than three centuries. It is a popular plant in the garden and is often seen as a filler between taller plants. This small plant has a variety of small leaves that are green and can grow up to 3-4 inches in diameter. The leaves are flat and triangular with a sharp point at the end. They have a waxy coating on the outside, which is often yellow or orange. The plant is also popular for its long red stems that have purple spots on the underside. It is commonly seen with a thick layer of small, yellow flowers on the stem that bloom in the summertime. The flowers have five petals, which are light yellow at the base and dark yellow at the top.
