Golden Incense Sticks

Incenses are made up of an amalgam of natural and manmade substances that produce small, inhalable particulate matter. A research investigation conducted in 2009 found that some of this particulate matter was carcinogenic, showing it could cause cancer. This study also discovered a link between incense consumption and an increased risk of cancer. Incense stick burning leads to indoor air pollution, which raises blood levels of oxides of carbon (CO) and nitrogen oxide (NOx). The high concentrations of these gases create neurological disorders by acting on the neurons in the brain.
