Meditation (dhyana), asceticism (tapa), chanting—often with japa beads—mantras, scripture readings (svadhyaya), food offerings (thaal), and/or prostrations (panchanga or ashtanga pranama, dandavat) are all components of puja. Aarti, a light offering to the Lord, is typically performed to complete puja.
