Levonorgestrel Tablet

Levonorgestrel is a synthetic form of progesterone, a hormone made by the body that regulates the menstrual cycle. This drug is taken in tablet form and is often used as an emergency contraceptive. It is most commonly used as a form of emergency contraception when other methods of birth control have failed or are not appropriate. This drug is also used to prevent pregnancy after having unprotected sex, to terminate pregnancy if there is no hope of carrying the pregnancy to term, and to prevent the release of an egg during the menstrual cycle. Levonorgestrel may also be used as a part of hormone therapy for the treatment of endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and other conditions.
