Pentazocine Injections

Pentazocine is a narcotic analgesic that is used for pain relief, sedation, and to control seizures. The medication is used as a substitute for morphine in patients who are allergic to morphine. Pentazocine is also used to prevent postoperative shivering and muscle spasms. Pentazocine is taken by mouth and injected intravenously or intramuscularly. Pentazocine should be taken at low doses to relieve pain, and at higher doses to control seizures.
