River Sand

River sand is a fine-grained sedimentary rock composed of particles of quartz and feldspar that are cemented together with silica. It is created by the erosion of rocks in rivers, streams, and oceans. The sand gets its name from the process of the sediment being carried along by a river or stream, as it becomes rounded and smoothed over time. The silica cement is the main component that gives river sand its ability to flow in water. It also has a small amount of aluminum oxide which gives it the ability to be slightly abrasive.
