Sodium Alginate

Sodium alginate is a natural compound made from the fibers of brown seaweed. It is soluble in water, and has a long molecular chain which allows it to form a gel-like substance when it interacts with other molecules. This gel-like substance is used in cosmetics and personal care products such as toothpaste and deodorant. Sodium alginate is also used as a thickener in a variety of products such as milk, yogurt, and ice cream.
