Sulfur is a natural product that is derived from the earth, in the form of pyrite, a mineral that consists of iron sulfide. It is a yellow, brittle, crystalline, sulfur-containing mineral that is found in volcanic regions and in many types of rocks, sedimentary rocks, and metamorphic rocks. This product is also produced in the atmosphere and the Earths crust. Sulfur is used in many industries, including agriculture, animal feed, petroleum refining, and papermaking.
