Ganesh is a Hindu deity with a elephant head, a mouse-like body, and an elephant trunk. He is worshiped as the god of wisdom, and as the remover of obstacles. Ganesh is believed to be the son of Lord Shiva and Parvati, the god of knowledge and wisdom. He is often depicted as having an elephant head with wide, alert eyes and a human body with a single tusk protruding from his mouth. He is typically shown holding his weapon, the gada (mace), and his favorite animal, the mouse. Ganesh is also considered the god of beginnings and thus is revered as a deity of new beginnings.
