The White Horse Head Statue is a 2,000-pound statue of a white horse carved from white marble and is located in the Capitol Rotunda. It is made of a single piece of stone and is estimated to have been sculpted by Italian sculptor Pietro Tacca in 1816. The statue depicts the Roman god of the sun, Apollo, riding a white horse. It was given to the United States by Italy in 1880.
