White Shankh

No pooja in a mandir or residence is complete without blowing a shankh, also known as a conch, which is extremely auspicious and sacred.A Vamvarti shankh has a natural hole for blowing that faces the left side of the spiralling shankh.Shankhs have a variety of textures and shapes.Some are rather little, while others are quite large.Fourteen ratnas—among them the shankh—came out of the ocean while it was being stirred by the devtas and the Rakshasas or asuras.
